Patient Services Intensive Care Unit

The Eight-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Eight-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Ganzouri Specialized Hospital provide advanced nursing care for patients who require continuous, comprehensive observation and detailed intensive care in a therapeutic atmosphere of competency and compassion.

In the ICU/CCU Registered Nurses provide care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and Primary Care Physician. They are certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Intravenous Therapy.

Our goal is to provide optimum 24 hour critical care nursing to patients that demonstrate unstable vital functions requiring specialized treatment and supportive measures from newborns to adults .

The ICU and CCU contain state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and full cardiac monitoring capabilities. Both units are organized in accordance with the rules and regulations of Critical Care.

Common equipment in an intensive care unit (ICU) includes: mechanical ventilation to assist breathing through an endotracheal tube or a tracheostomy opening; dialysis equipment for renal problems; equipment for the constant monitoring of bodily functions; a web of intravenous lines, feeding tubes, nasogastric tubes, suction pumps, drains and catheters; and a wide array of drugs to treat the main condition(s), induce sedation, reduce pain, and prevent secondary infections.

Ganzouri Specialized Hospital encourages family visit during the recovery and healing process of our patients. We know that having loved ones nearby during hospitalization makes our patients more comfortable and helps speed recovery. However, visitation guidelines are required to ensure that our primary concern, the care to our patients, is not compromised.

The visitor guidelines here at Ganzouri Specialized Hospital are in no way designed to restrict family access to hospitalized loved ones, but rather to establish policies which provide our patients with ample time to rest, receive needed medical procedures and medications, and to heal. These guidelines ensure a decreased risk of infection for the patient.
